Owner/ Principal Designer
Haskell R. Matheny, or Hank as he is known to his friends and colleagues, is the driving force behind Haskell Interiors. Hank has that special and rare combination of education, training, experience and raw talent that elevates Haskell Interiors to a level above the competition.
Hank has a BA in Psychology from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN as well as a BS in Interior Design from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. With over 20 years as an interior designer, Hank is an active member in a number of industry organizations including:
- Professional Member ASID (American Society of Interior Designers)
- Professional Member IIDA (International Interior Designers Association)
- Professional Member IDS (Interior Design Society)
- Member NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association)
- Member IFDA (International Furniture & Designers Association)
- Member SEN Design Group (Kitchen and Bath Industry)
- Member NHBA (National Home Builders Association)
Hank’s experience encompasses the following qualifications:
- LEED Green Associate
- CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist)
- NCIDQ Certified. (National Council Interior Design Qualification)
- In first group of designers to be licensed in the state of TN (license #27)
- Past board member as interior design representative on Tennessee State Board of Architects, Engineers and Designers
- Founding member and past president of the Tennessee Chapter of NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association)
- Past President and active member of Chattanooga Chapter of ASID
- Member of Advisory Board for University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Interior Design Department
In Hank’s own words, he explains his design philosophy this way: “I am driven and motivated by architecture. I look at each space as a blank canvas and my goal is to make the space beautiful and visually interesting. I believe the space itself should have its own character and evoke a feeling before the first piece of furniture is placed into it.”
