Cleveland,
TN, USA – Signature Kitchens & Baths magazine, a national
consumer-enthusiast publication featuring the most innovative
kitchen and bath designs for today’s discriminating homeowner,
has awarded Haskell Interiors Design Collection first place in
its annual bathroom design competition.
The bathroom, designed by Hank Matheny, features a custom carved
vanity and backsplash, as well as glass tile panels.

Wins First Place in National Design Competition |

Haskell
Interior Design Collection was recently awarded first place in
the 43rd annual National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) 2007
design competition. Haskell Interiors Design Collection was
awarded first place in category nine: showrooms. The winning
showroom vignette is on display in the Haskell Interiors Kitchen
and Bath Gallery located at 85 1st Street, NE, Cleveland, TN.
This colorful bath display, designed by Haskell (Hank) Matheny
and Kathy Massey features glass tiles on both the floor and
walls, including a custom poppy mural.
NKBA received 567 entries, from across the United States, Canada
and Bermuda, which was a new record for this competition. The
competition was separated into 11 distinct categories, each
designed to represent the latest trends in kitchen, bath and
other-room design. The categories were created to reflect how
designers stretch their imaginations and put their creativity to
work for their clients in a variety of settings. A panel of 14
industry experts served as judges for this years design
competition. According to NKBA officials, the judging criteria
is stringent, with designs chosen based on visual appeal,
creative elements, principles of design, overall presentation
(including quality of floor plan, perspective and photos) and
basic safety and ergonomics of the design.

Two Haskell Interior Design Collection
Designers Speak at the Lofts on Main |

Hank Matheny, ASID, IIDA, IFDA, and Kathy Massey, showroom
manager, with Haskell Interiors Design Collection in Cleveland,
were recent featured speakers at a meeting of owners and
potential buyers at The Lofts on Main in Chattanooga, TN. The
two designers presented information on topics including the use
of texture and scale to make a design statement, floor plans
which maximize space and minimize cost, using industrial
materials in a home environment and how to plan and design a
small space which is multi-functional.
The Lofts on Main are located in downtown Chattanooga one block
from the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo. They offer unfinished
spaces ranging from 900 to 2,000 square feet in a three-story
warehouse setting and have minimal restrictions which allow each
owner to create a space customized to his or her individual
tastes and needs.

Haskell Interior Design Collection
Debuts 12,000 Square Foot Showroom |

Haskell Interior Design Collection was the site recently for an
evening gala, debuting their newly expanded 12,000 square foot
designer showroom.
Over 250 people attended the event including local residents and
dignitaries along with representatives from such major companies
as Downsview Kitchens, Toto, Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry,
Duravit and Brunschwig Fils. Mr. Mike D’Uva, President of
Downsview Kitchens, commented that he was “most impressed by the
feeling of elegance and professionalism that the Haskell
Interiors Design Collection showroom conveys, providing the
perfect environment for the Downsview Kitchens product”.
The showroom combines a large selection of exclusive and
distinct products with the uniqueness of personal service and
innovative design concepts in a beautiful boutique atmosphere.
With over 30 tile lines, five cabinetry lines and over 20
plumbing lines as well as over 40 nationally marketed brands of
lighting, hardware, furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, Haskell
Interiors Design Collection offers both the general public and
design industry professionals a one-stop studio for distinctive
design projects.

Internationally Renowned Kitchen Designer
Recognizes
Haskell Interior Design Collection |

Haskell Interiors Design Collection worked with
internationally renowned kitchen showroom consultant Ellen
Cheever in planning and designing the spectacular new downtown
Cleveland Showroom.
Ellen loved her time in Cleveland and said “I found the Haskell
Interiors new showroom a fascinating ‘full service’ showroom
ready to assist in the selection of all products being
considered for an upscale kitchen or bath. Hank Matheny’s
background in interior design makes him a unique specialist able
to extend his talents out of these important rooms into the
entire home, assisting clients with furniture and fabric
selections as well.”
Ellen
Cheever, CMKBD, ASID, an NKBA Hall of Fame inductee, is an
author and marketing specialist whose practical, yet innovative
design solutions and professional writing/teaching has helped
shaped the North American kitchen industry over the past 33
years.
When working on residential kitchen projects, she collaborates
with noted
kitchen specialists throughout the United States, combining her
design talents with the product specification expertise and
skillful project management of trusted professionals within the
client’s community. Her work has been recently recognized by the
American Society of Interior Designers as the 2002 Designer of
Distinction in Pennsylvania, the 2003 Sub-Zero Design
Competition, and the 2004 KWC Design Competition.
In addition to her residential practice, Ellen Cheever and her
associates design retail showroom spaces, major trade show
exhibits and editorial sets, and contribute to product
development projects for kitchen and bath industry
manufacturers. As the author of 15+ books and technical
manuals covering the details of kitchen and bathroom planning
standards, Ellen continues to write and speak about emerging
design trends, ergonomic planning standards and winning business
strategies both domestically and internationally within the
kitchen design industry.
